Turkish Cymbals Ephesus Ride Heavy – Maximum Power
The Ephesus Ride Heavy by Turkish Cymbals is the most powerful version in the Ephesus lineup. In 21" and 22", this heavy ride cymbal offers maximum projection, a voluminous sonic character and a raw, dark bell that is unrivalled in its assertiveness. For drummers who accept no compromises on volume and power.
The Secret of the Ephesus Series: Double-Sided Hammering and Raw Bell
At the heart of the Ephesus series is a manufacturing process that no other Turkish Cymbals series implements as consistently: every cymbal is hand-hammered on both sides – top and bottom. This labour-intensive process gives the cymbal an extraordinary sonic saturation that runs through all frequency ranges. On both sides, the bell is deliberately left raw and unlathed – the hammer strikes remain visible and acoustically effective. The result is a dark, powerful bell with organic character that differs fundamentally from the clear, bright bell sounds of lathed bells. In the final step, all Ephesus cymbals are fine-hammered with special tools – a finishing refinement that gives the overall sound depth and complexity.
Sound Character: Voluminous, Dark and Powerful
The Ephesus Ride Heavy delivers more in every respect: more volume, more depth, more projection. The stick sound is loud and direct – with a clarity that remains audible even in the loudest live setups. The wash is wide and rich in overtones, but more controlled than thinner cymbals thanks to the heavy construction. The raw, unlathed bell is the acoustic centrepiece: it delivers a dark, powerful bell sound that projects far and sustains long. In 21" and 22", volume and sustain differ noticeably – the 22" model offers the maximum sonic body of the entire Ephesus series.
Applications: Metal, Progressive Rock and Hard Rock
The Ephesus Ride Heavy is the cymbal for drummers playing in extreme volume ranges while refusing to sacrifice character. In Metal it is the ultimate ride cymbal for powerful, penetrating stick sounds and bell patterns that hold their own against distorted guitar walls and loud monitoring systems. In Progressive Rock the large surface provides a wide sonic canvas for complex ride patterns. In Hard Rock the Ephesus Ride Heavy is the instrument for drummers who demand to be heard.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every Ephesus cymbal is crafted in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul following a tradition that reaches back centuries. The B20 bronze alloy – 80% copper, 20% tin – is hand-cast, heated and hammered thousands of times on both sides by experienced master craftsmen. The raw, unlathed bell is no compromise – it is a deliberate design decision for warmth, darkness and organic character. We at Cymballand are proud, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, to bring this masterwork directly to you – without intermediaries, at the best price.
