Turkish Cymbals FX Silence Series

The FX Silence series by Turkish Cymbals is a range of practice cymbals: low-volume cymbals for practising and for any situation in which regular cymbals would be too loud. They are made in Istanbul from B20 bronze: cast by hand, lathed and given a Traditional finish. On top of that, each cymbal has numerous fine holes drilled by machine. They remove about half of the material, which makes the cymbals about 50% quieter than conventional models.

About 50% quieter, with the playing feel you know

All five models are Thin. The holes are so small that you won’t feel them under the stick – the cymbals play like ordinary B20 cymbals. Because about half of the material is missing, ping, wash, bell and decay are reduced to the same degree, and the Crash, Hi-Hat and Splash die away quickly and in a controlled way. The Ride has ping, wash and bell just like a normal ride, while the Flat Ride does without a bell altogether. If you like, you can also stack FX Silence cymbals. Perforated cymbals at full volume, with a trashy effect sound, are what you’ll find in the FX series.

Musical styles and cymbals in the series

The FX Silence series is designed for practising at home, for lessons, quiet gigs and home recording, as well as for setups with e-drums or mesh heads – in any musical style. The series includes the FX Silence Ride with ping, wash and bell, the bell-less FX Silence Flat Ride with a flat, dry sound, the FX Silence Crash with a short, controlled accent, the FX Silence Hi-Hat with a clear, short chick and the FX Silence Splash for small accents. Together, they make up a complete low-volume cymbal setup – ideal for drum students, drum schools and all drummers who want to practise on real cymbals instead of pads.
