Turkish Cymbals Dark Hammer Series

The Dark Hammer series by Turkish Cymbals is instantly recognisable by its horizontal stripes. Lathing, oven firing and a special acid treatment produce them; the bells are lathed and oven-fired as well. This treatment gives the cymbals a dark, dry sound with clear stick definition. Every Dark Hammer cymbal is cast by hand in Istanbul from B20 bronze and hammered stroke by stroke.

Dry, dark sound with precise articulation

Dark Hammer cymbals respond quickly and powerfully, articulating every stroke cleanly; the rides add a woody ping on top. Their Medium-Thin build makes them responsive, yet they are loud and assertive. The bells sound dark and deep. If you’re after similarly dark, earthy sounds, you’ll also find them in the Cappadocia series and the NJG series.

With its dry, direct character, the Dark Hammer series suits grunge, funk and Latin – as well as jazz fusion, soul, R'n'B and traditional jazz. The series includes the Dark Hammer Crash with an explosive attack, the Dark Hammer Hi-Hat with a crisp chick and pinpoint response, the Dark Hammer Ride with a controlled wash and the Dark Hammer Sizzle Ride with sizzle rivets and a subtle shimmer.
