Turkish Cymbals Lale Kardes Signature Series

The Lale Kardeş Signature series by Turkish Cymbals brings back the cymbal sound of the big hard-rock bands of the 60s and 70s. It was designed by Lale Kardeş, drummer of the bluesy garage-rock trio The Ringo Jets; she worked on the series together with Turkish Cymbals for more than a year. She is the first female drummer to have her own signature series at Turkish Cymbals. Every cymbal bears a logo she drew herself: a Hançer – a Turkish dagger – with a tulip-shaped grip. “Lale” is the Turkish word for tulip. In its June 2018 issue, Modern Drummer magazine featured the series.

Large sizes in Medium-Thin

The series is made up exclusively of large sizes. All of its cymbals are cast and hammered by hand from B20 bronze in Istanbul; they are Medium-Thin, lathed all over and have a Traditional finish. In terms of sound, they are explosive, with plenty of wash and a long sustain, neither particularly bright nor particularly dark – very close to the cymbals you’d hear with rock bands in the 60s and 70s.

Musical styles and cymbals in the series

The series is at home in blues, rock'n'roll, psychedelic rock and heavy rock. It comprises three models: the Lale Kardeş Signature Ride with a broad wash and a powerful bell, the Lale Kardeş Signature Hi-Hat with a loud, loose chick, and the explosive Lale Kardeş Signature Crash with a direct attack and a long sustain.
