Turkish Cymbals NJG Series

With the NJG series – NJG stands for ‘New Jazz Generation’ – Turkish Cymbals offers a jazz cymbal sound that is dry, dark, controlled and short. The B20 bronze is cast in Istanbul, and each cymbal is then hammered by hand. What catches the eye is the upper side: it looks rough and matte, as if someone had gone over it with a wire brush. In fact, this texture comes from a special lathing process; the underside has a Traditional finish.

Dry and dark, with a warm stick sound

The brush-like surface shortens the sustain and makes the sound dark. Even so, the stick sound stays warm and clearly articulated, and the ping short and precise. The weight classes range from Thin for the Ride Light and Splash Sizzle, through Medium-Thin for the Crash, Hi-Hat and Ride Flat, to Medium for the Ride Medium.

Musical styles and cymbals in the series

NJG cymbals feel at home in traditional jazz, jazz-fusion, blues, soul, R'n'B, funk and Latin. There are six models in the range: the NJG Crash with its dark, warm sound, the NJG Hi-Hat with a dry, crisp chick, three rides – the NJG Ride Medium with its warm stick sound, the light NJG Ride Light and the bell-less NJG Ride Flat – and the NJG Splash Sizzle with five rivets.
