Turkish Cymbals NJG Ride Medium – Warm, dry, with a powerful bell
Of the three NJG rides, the NJG Ride Medium is the heaviest: a ride cymbal in the Medium weight class, lathed matte and rough on its upper side. It shares its dry, dark and controlled sound with the whole series.
Sound character: warm stick sound, short ping
The NJG Ride Medium answers the stick with a warm, controlled sound and a short ping. It’s the rough upper side that keeps the sustain short and the colour dark. The bell sounds powerful and clearly defined. The 21" responds faster, and the 22" brings more volume and projection.
Applications: traditional jazz, blues, jazz-fusion, Latin, soul, R'n'B and funk
In acoustic ensembles especially, the NJG Ride Medium carries blues shuffles and traditional jazz swing with clear stick definition. In jazz-fusion, the short ping sits on a warm underlying tone, and in Latin, soul, R'n'B and funk, the powerful bell sets rhythmic accents. For a lighter, more open alternative, there’s the NJG Ride Light, and if you want no bell at all, the NJG Ride Flat. The NJG Hi-Hat rounds off the setup.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every cymbal in the NJG series is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces and hammered by experienced master craftsmen, stroke by stroke. After that, a special lathing process gives the upper side its brush-like texture, while the underside is given a Traditional finish. Because casting and hammering are done by hand, each one sounds just a little different. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
