Turkish Cymbals NJG Ride Light – Light, open, sensitive
The NJG Ride Light gives you the dry NJG sound in a light ride cymbal from the Thin weight class. As on every model of the ‘New Jazz Generation’, its upper side is rough and matte.
Sound character: fast, delicate, dry
As a Thin model, the Ride Light sounds more open and responds faster; even a very light touch is enough to bring out its full sound. That doesn’t change the dry, controlled NJG character: here, too, the sustain is cut short by the brush-like upper side, which lends the sound a darker colour.
Applications: traditional jazz, blues, jazz-fusion, Latin, soul and funk
In traditional jazz and blues, you can draw out fine nuances with brushes and sticks alike. The open wash gives ride patterns in jazz-fusion and Latin room to breathe, while in soul and funk, the fast response keeps the grooves precise. The NJG Ride Medium is heavier and has a powerful bell, the NJG Ride Flat does without a bell entirely, and the NJG Crash makes a good match for the Ride Light.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every cymbal in the NJG series is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces and hammered by experienced master craftsmen, stroke by stroke. After that, a special lathing process gives the upper side its brush-like texture, while the underside is given a Traditional finish. Because casting and hammering are done by hand, each one sounds just a little different. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
