Turkish Cymbals Sirius Series

The hallmark of the Sirius series by Turkish Cymbals is six equally sized holes in every cymbal. Production in Istanbul begins with casting the cymbals from B20 bronze and hammering them by hand; after lathing, each one is polished on both sides to a high gloss. The holes are machine-made.

Six holes, bright trash

Both Sirius models share the same weight: Thin. When struck, they sound bright, aggressive and trashy – and after a short decay, that's it. The six holes account for the quick cut-off and the trash. The high-gloss polish is what makes them bright, because it densifies the bronze.

Musical styles and cymbals in the series

You'll mostly hear the Sirius series in rock, grunge, progressive rock, jungle and soundtrack productions. It comprises two models: the Sirius Crash, which works both as an effect cymbal and as a main crash, and the Sirius China Holey with an upturned rim and a short, dry decay. Sorted by type, you'll also find both in our crash cymbals and china & effect cymbals categories. Paired with a perforated Sehzade China, the Sirius Crash forms the upper part of the Turkish Cymbals Stack; the two Sirius models can be stacked as well, with the china below and the crash on top. The hi-hat of the FX series has large holes too – Sirius was the inspiration. The Zephyros Hi-Hat Holey and the Zephyros Crash Holey, on the other hand, have lots of holes in different sizes.
