Turkish Cymbals FX Series

The FX series by Turkish Cymbals consists of thin, perforated effect cymbals. Every model is created in Istanbul from B20 bronze, cast by hand and hammered stroke by stroke – only the holes are made by a machine. The China and Crash feature numerous small holes and a high-gloss polish, while the Hi-Hat has large holes of different diameters and a Traditional finish.

Bright, trashy sound with a short decay

All three models have a Thin build. The holes shorten the ring-out and make the sound trashy; on the China and Crash, the polish makes the bronze denser, raises the pitch and delivers a bright, almost glassy sound with a very fast response. The series is meant for drummers looking for short, loud effect accents. The large holes of the FX Hi-Hat go back to the Sirius series. Other models with holes are the Zephyros Crash Holey and the Zephyros Hi-Hat Holey. For stack sounds, it’s worth taking a look at the Stack series. With its bright, trashy character, the FX series suits rock, progressive, jungle, jazz-fusion and contemporary – in electronic or hybrid setups, too. The series includes the stackable FX China with a loud, explosive attack and a fast decay, the FX Crash with a bright, quickly fading sound, and the FX Hi-Hat with a dirty effect chick and a short wash.
