Turkish Cymbals Apex Series

The Apex series by Turkish Cymbals is made for drummers looking for a modern, punchy sound with clear definition. Its hallmark is the contrast between the centre and bell, polished to a high gloss, and the rest of the surface with its Traditional finish and densely lathed edge. The polished centre gives a clear, fast attack; the densely lathed edge, a wide crash. Every cymbal is cast from B20 bronze in Istanbul and hammered by hand.

Powerful, defined sound with plenty of projection

Apex cymbals are medium-heavy to heavy and built for projection: they respond quickly and cut through even loud setups without losing definition. The polished bells deliver a strong, clearly defined bell sound. The B20 bronze gives the sound rich overtones – even on the small splashes. The series shows its strength when you play hard; it is less suited to quiet, delicate jazz playing. If you’re looking for a similarly powerful sound, you’ll also find it in the Rock Beat Raw series and the Ephesus series.

Musical styles and cymbals in the series

The Apex series is made above all for rock, metal and punk – wherever cymbals have to hold their own against loud guitars. In modern pop productions it sets direct, clear accents; the hi-hat and ride also work in funk. At its centre is the Ride with its slightly oversized bell – a precise ride and a full-sounding crash-ride in one. Alongside it come the explosive Crash, the Hi-Hat with its extra-heavy, unlathed and fully polished bottom and crisp chick, the trashy China with its short sustain, and the Splashes for short, snappy accents. That lets you build a complete, sonically consistent setup from a single series.
