Turkish Cymbals Clatter Series

The Clatter series by Turkish Cymbals is made up of paper-thin effect cymbals whose sound sits between crash and china. On the top side, a special lathing process gives them a brush-like finish: a rough, textured surface, as if worked with a metal brush. The underside, by contrast, is lathed the classic way, with a traditional finish. These cymbals are designed for drummers and percussionists, and you can play them with sticks just as well as with your hands. Each Clatter cymbal is hand-cast and hand-hammered from B20 bronze in Istanbul.

Hybrid sound between crash and china

The name says it all: a clatter is a rattling, crashing noise. Clatter cymbals combine the fast response of a crash with the cutting, exotic character of a china. A sharp attack with the series’ typical hiss is followed by a dark, deep sound that dies away quickly. Even light strokes or a tap of the fingers get these paper-thin cymbals speaking; played harder, they deliver clear accents. You’ll find more effect cymbals with a character of their own in the Bee series and the Comet series.

Musical styles and cymbals in the series

The Clatter series covers everything from percussion, soundtrack and world music to jazz and fusion. The Clatter Crash comes in 14", 16", 17", 18" and 19" and pairs a dark, fast-fading crash tone with the attack of a china. The Clatter Splash in 10" and 12" brings the same character in a compact format. Both open up new colours for drum kits and percussion setups alike. Sorted by type, you’ll also find the models under crash cymbals and splash cymbals.
