The John Blackwell Signature Series from Turkish Cymbals is a tribute to one of the most expressive drummers in modern music history. In close collaboration with John Blackwell Jr. – known for his work with Prince, Justin Timberlake, and Patti LaBelle – a cymbal series was created that combines funk, precision, and musical depth .
Made from high-quality B20 bronze and entirely hand-hammered and lathed, this series delivers everything professional drummers need:
- Crystal clear stick definition,
- Dry, controlled sounds,
- Trashy Chinese accents,
- Andfast responding crashes with short decay.
The combination of a brilliantly polished surface and a raw, untreated bell creates a strong visual and acoustic presence. Particularly characteristic are the heavy 21" ride with its focused ping, the sensitive 13" hi-hat with its fast chick, and the jazz-inspired 22" ride with its vintage tonality.
This series is ideal for musical genres such asfunk, R&B, soul, rock, fusion, jazz, and hip-hop. Whether on stage or in the studio, the John Blackwell Signature Series stands forexpressive playing, dynamic control, and cross-genre versatility.
