Turkish Cymbals John Blackwell Signature Crash Thin – Fast and warm
With the John Blackwell Signature Crash Thin, you get the thin crash cymbal of the series shaped by John Blackwell Jr.’s ideas. It is lathed and has a Traditional finish, while the bell is left raw and unlathed.
Sound character: quick response, warm tone
The Crash Thin speaks quickly; its sound is warm and its sustain medium-length. If you like a fuller sound, go for the 19": it has more body and rings out a little longer. The 18" sounds drier and more direct.
Applications: soul, R'n'B, funk, jazz-fusion and contemporary
In soul and R'n'B songs, you use the Crash Thin to lead into choruses and transitions; in funk, you crash on the one coming out of a break, and in jazz-fusion pieces its fast response comes in handy for dynamic accents. For trashy effects, the John Blackwell Signature China complements the Crash Thin; with the John Blackwell Signature Ride and the John Blackwell Signature Hi-Hat, your whole setup comes from one series.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every cymbal in the John Blackwell Signature series is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces and hammered by experienced master craftsmen, stroke by stroke. After that, each model is given its own surface, from brilliant-polished to Traditional – but the bell stays unlathed on every model in the series. Because casting and hammering are done by hand, each cymbal sounds just a little different. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
