Turkish Cymbals X-TR Dark Series

The X-TR Dark series by Turkish Cymbals is the dark voice of the X-TR family. A large hammer pattern and a dark finish give it a full sound with deep overtones and a shorter sustain than Brilliant and Classic. Every X-TR Dark cymbal is cast from B20 bronze in Istanbul, hammered partly by hand and partly by machine, and then lathed. In the USA, the series is known as Meta Dark – they are the same cymbals.

Dark, full sound with a driving character

These Medium cymbals combine warmth with forward momentum: the hi-hat has a deep, dark, trashy character with warm overtones and drive. The crash has a cutting response without excessive brilliance and then rings out warm and dark – thanks to its controlled character, it also works as a second ride. The ride sounds dark, deep and driving: the bell has excellent response, and the moderate wash keeps the stick definition clear, even with busy patterns. Within the family, the X-TR Brilliant series sounds brighter and more cutting, and the X-TR Classic series more balanced and elegant.

Musical styles and cymbals in the series

With its dark, driving character, the X-TR Dark series suits grunge, rock, funk and blues – and jazz fusion as well. The series includes the X-TR Dark Crash in 19" with a warm, dark sound, the X-TR Dark Hi-Hat in 14" with trashy drive, the X-TR Dark Ride in 22" with a bell that has excellent response, and the X-TR Dark Set with every model in the series plus a soft case. That lets you build a dark setup full of character from a single series.
