Turkish Cymbals Sirius China Holey – Aggressive china sound with a short decay
On the Sirius China Holey, the china shape with its upturned rim meets the series' six large holes, each roughly 5 cm in diameter. This china cymbal shares its weight and finish with the Sirius Crash: Thin, with a high-gloss polish on both sides.
Sound character: aggressive and shorter than a regular china
Its attack is aggressive, and next to an ordinary china its ring-out is shorter and drier. The six holes take length out of the sound and leave it with a clipped trash. The bright tone is down to the high-gloss polish, which makes the bronze denser. The 16" responds more directly; the 18" brings more body.
Applications: grunge, jungle, progressive, rock and soundtrack
The short, dry decay of the Sirius China Holey matches the high tempo of jungle. For rock and grunge songs, it serves up aggressive china hits; in intricate prog-rock passages, it brings out individual accents; and on soundtracks, it delivers striking single strokes. Want to stack it? Then the China Holey goes underneath and the Sirius Crash on top. The FX China has lots of small holes instead of a few large ones.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every cymbal in the Sirius series is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces and hammered by experienced master craftsmen, stroke by stroke. Next, the cymbals go onto the lathe, after which both sides are given a high-gloss polish. The six holes are put in by machine. Because casting and hammering are done by hand, each one sounds just a little different. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
