Turkish Cymbals Sirius Crash – Bright, trashy, short
You'll recognise the Sirius Crash at a glance by its six equally sized holes, each about 5 cm across. Both sides of this crash cymbal shine with a high-gloss polish, and its weight class is Thin.
Sound character: instantly bright, over in a flash
Hit it and the Sirius Crash answers straight away with a bright, powerful attack. It sounds bright because the polish compacts the bronze. After that comes a short, trashy decay – a result of the six holes. The 14" has the most direct response and is the quickest to go quiet again; every extra inch adds volume and body, and the 19" sounds fullest.
Applications: grunge, jungle, progressive, rock and soundtrack
Used as an effect cymbal, the Sirius Crash drops in short, sharp accents, but you can just as easily play it as your main crash. After a fill in rock and grunge, it gives the one a trashy bite, and in progressive rock it underlines figures in odd time signatures. Over fast jungle beats, you lay down tight, powerful crashes with it, and for soundtrack work it supplies bright trash effects. In the Turkish Cymbals Stack, the Sirius Crash sits on top of a Sehzade China that also has holes. Put the Sirius China Holey underneath and you can also build yourself a stack of two Sirius cymbals.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every cymbal in the Sirius series is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces and hammered by experienced master craftsmen, stroke by stroke. Next, the cymbals go onto the lathe, after which both sides are given a high-gloss polish. The six holes are put in by machine. Because casting and hammering are done by hand, each one sounds just a little different. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
