Turkish Cymbals NJG Crash – Dark, warm and open
Accents in the NJG sound – short for ‘New Jazz Generation’ – come from the NJG Crash. This crash cymbal is Medium-Thin and finely hammered by hand, and its upper side looks rough, as if it had been brushed.
Sound character: full, musical, controlled
Compared with the ride models in the series, the Crash opens up more and sounds warmer and fuller, yet it keeps the dark, controlled core character. Dark tones and a bright response are evenly balanced. Its brush-like upper side shortens the sustain and darkens the sound, while the fine hammering gives it musicality and nuance. The 17" version is drier and more direct; the 18" version brings more body and a longer sustain.
Applications: blues, traditional jazz, jazz-fusion, Latin, soul, R'n'B and funk
For blues and traditional jazz, the NJG Crash delivers warm, restrained accents; in jazz-fusion, you can let it open up dynamically. In Latin, soul, R'n'B and funk, the accents hit directly while the sound stays warm. Add the NJG Ride Medium, the NJG Hi-Hat and the NJG Splash Sizzle, and you have a complete NJG setup.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every cymbal in the NJG series is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces and hammered by experienced master craftsmen, stroke by stroke. After that, a special lathing process gives the upper side its brush-like texture, while the underside is given a Traditional finish. Because casting and hammering are done by hand, each one sounds just a little different. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
