The Xanthos-Cast series by Turkish Cymbals has an unmistakable surface structure: the bell is lathed and brightly polished – a powerful, focused bell tone with a clear ping. The remaining bow is fully unlathed, deeply hammered and dark polished – the deep hammer strikes produce a characteristically dark brilliance that is neither raw nor classically brilliant. The result is a dark, harmonic sound with a sharp, powerful punch: dark overtones with forceful highs and mids, controlled sustain and an organic depth that sounds unique in this combination.

The Xanthos-Cast Hi-Hat in 14” and 15” delights with a clear, crispy chick sound and a bright, outstandingly musical character. The right balance of overtones produces a bright, fast and well-defined stick sound with precise articulation – surprisingly bright and musical for a series with such a dark fundamental character. Played closed it delivers a clean, defined chick. Played open a dark, controlled wash develops. The 15” model offers more volume and depth.
