Turkish Cymbals Bee Crash – Controlled trash
The Bee Crash by Turkish Cymbals is a paper-thin crash cymbal that sits between categories: it sounds like a crash, with the bite of a china and the whoosh of a swish. Its character comes from the creative lathing process of the Bee series, which gives the edge a slightly wavy shape. Like every Bee cymbal, it is cast from B20 bronze and hammered by hand – available in 14", 16", 18", 20" and 22".
Sound character: trashy, dark and controlled
The Bee Crash responds fully to the lightest touch; dig in harder and it gets darker and fuller. The attack is sharp and direct like a china’s, with the hiss typical of the Bee series. Then the sound opens into a dark, slightly swishy sustain – shorter and more controlled than a classic crash, but broader and more musical than a china. Despite the paper-thin build, the B20 bronze gives the sound rich overtones. Depth, body and sustain grow with size: the 14" sounds dry and direct, while the 22" delivers a voluminous crash sound that recalls a large swish. One customer summed it up in a review: “controlled trash and pleasantly dark”.
Applications: percussion, soundtrack, world music and fusion
The Bee Crash is also a pure effect cymbal – made for drummers and percussionists hunting for unusual tonal colours. It’s right at home in percussion setups and world music: thanks to its thin, flexible build, you can play it with your hands just as well – in a setup alongside frame drums, for instance. On soundtrack productions it brings dark, trashy accents, and in fusion it delivers crashes that don’t sound off the shelf.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every Bee Crash is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces and hammered thousands of times by experienced master craftsmen. Because every cymbal is made by hand, no two Bee Crashes sound exactly alike. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
