Turkish Cymbals Classic China Reverse – Civilised edge
The Classic China Reverse by Turkish Cymbals is a china cymbal in 14" and 17" with an inverted bell, combining the character of a china and a crash. Turkish Cymbals calls Classic the most versatile series in its range and its professional standard line – and our experience confirms it: you can play practically any style of music with Classic cymbals. The series follows the tradition of dark, warm Istanbul cymbals: balanced weight, the typical dents left by hand hammering and a traditional finish. Its sound ranges from deep and earthy through full and broad to bright and clear.
Sound character: fast, musical and controlled
The inverted bell changes the sound fundamentally: instead of the hard, aggressive china sound, you get a more controlled, rounder tone. The cymbal responds fast and decays quickly, yet it has more body and a little more sustain than a conventional china. One customer from our community described it as a pleasantly civilised cymbal for those moments when a normal china would be too much. The 14" model is more direct and drier, while the 17" sounds fuller and rings out longer.
Applications: jazz, rock, funk and fusion
The Classic China Reverse is for drummers who like the character of a china cymbal but want a more musical version of it. In a jazz trio, it blends into the band sound without taking over. At rock and funk gigs, it delivers precise accents with a hint of exotic china flavour, and in fusion setups you can use it both as a china and as an alternative crash. Next to a Classic Crash, it becomes a second, shorter accent colour in your setup.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every Classic cymbal is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces, hammered thousands of times by experienced master craftsmen and then lathed by hand. That’s why every Classic cymbal bears its own hammer marks, while the series character stays the same. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
