Turkish Cymbals Kurak Hi-Hat Jazz – Light groove
“Kurak” is the Turkish word for “dry” – and that is exactly how this series sounds. In the Kurak series by Turkish Cymbals, both sides of every cymbal are left completely raw and unlathed: no lathing, no polishing, just pure B20 bronze in its most natural form. The result is a dark, earthy and dry sound – direct and organic. The Kurak models (Medium-Heavy) have a larger bell and more weight for projection and the power to cut through. The Jazz and Thin versions are thinner and lighter, respond faster and are made for more delicate playing.
Sound character: sensitive, dry and musical
The Kurak Hi-Hat Jazz in 14" and 15" is the lighter, more sensitive sibling of the Kurak Hi-Hat. Thanks to its Thin construction, it speaks fully at the very lightest touch. The chick is darker and softer than on the Medium-Heavy model – still dry and organic, but with more finesse. Ideal for drummers who want the Kurak character in quieter, more intimate line-ups without giving up a fast response.
Applications: Soul, R’n’B, Jazz-Fusion, Latin and Funk
Delicate, detailed hi-hat work is what the Kurak Hi-Hat Jazz does best. In Jazz-Fusion, fast, complex patterns come easily on these thin cymbals; in Soul and R’n’B, the dark, soft chick gives the groove warmth. With syncopated figures in Latin and Funk, the fast response keeps everything precise.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every Kurak cymbal is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul from B20 bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – hand-cast using a traditional process, heated and carefully hammered by experienced master craftsmen. No lathing, no high-gloss finish – the raw bronze keeps its original surface. The result is a cymbal that looks as if it were made centuries ago and sounds like the earth itself. At Cymballand, we are proud to bring this authentic craftsmanship straight to you as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals – no middlemen, at the best price.
