Turkish Cymbals Kurak Ride Jazz – Dry depth
“Kurak” is the Turkish word for “dry” – and that is exactly how this series sounds. In the Kurak series by Turkish Cymbals, both sides of every cymbal are left completely raw and unlathed: no lathing, no polishing, just pure B20 bronze in its most natural form. The result is a dark, earthy and dry sound – direct and organic. The Kurak models (Medium-Heavy) have a larger bell and more weight for projection and the power to cut through. The Jazz and Thin versions are thinner and lighter, respond faster and are made for more delicate playing.
Sound character: dry, open and sensitive
The Kurak Ride Jazz in 20", 21" and 22" is the lighter, more sensitive version of the Kurak Ride. Its Thin construction makes it respond faster: even light strokes bring the cymbal fully to life, and the wash is more open and airy than on the heavier Kurak Ride. The raw, unlathed character stays fully intact – dry, dark, organic – but gains the responsiveness you need for quiet, nuanced playing.
Applications: Soul, R’n’B, Jazz-Fusion, Latin and Funk
Lighter and quicker to respond, but with the same earthy character: the Kurak Ride Jazz is made for refined ride playing. In Jazz-Fusion, complex, nuanced patterns come out with an organic sound; in Soul and R’n’B, the open wash carries the groove musically. In Latin and Funk, the raw bell gives you rhythmic precision with a delicate feel.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every Kurak cymbal is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul from B20 bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – hand-cast using a traditional process, heated and carefully hammered by experienced master craftsmen. No lathing, no high-gloss finish – the raw bronze keeps its original surface. The result is a cymbal that looks as if it were made centuries ago and sounds like the earth itself. At Cymballand, we are proud to bring this authentic craftsmanship straight to you as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals – no middlemen, at the best price.
