Turkish Cymbals Kurak Splash – Earthy accents
“Kurak” is the Turkish word for “dry” – and that is exactly how this series sounds. In the Kurak series by Turkish Cymbals, both sides of every cymbal are left completely raw and unlathed: no lathing, no polishing, just pure B20 bronze in its most natural form. The result is a dark, earthy and dry sound – direct and organic. The Kurak models (Medium-Heavy) have a larger bell and more weight for projection and the power to cut through. The Jazz and Thin versions are thinner and lighter, respond faster and are made for more delicate playing.
Sound character: dry, dark and direct
The Kurak Splash in 8" and 10" brings the Kurak character to the smallest cymbal size. Instead of the typical bright, sharp splash sound, you get a dark, dry accent – raw, organic and instantly recognisable. The attack is direct, the decay short and controlled. The 8" model sounds drier and more direct, the 10" model has a little more body. An effects cymbal for anyone looking for an earthy accent that stands clearly apart from conventional splashes.
Applications: Soul, R’n’B, Rock, Latin, Jazz-Fusion and Funk
As an effects cymbal, the Kurak Splash adds short, earthy punctuation that spices up a Funk or Soul groove without outshining it. If you want a dark counterpart to the usual splash in Rock, this is the one. In Jazz-Fusion or Latin, it brings unusual tonal colours to creative patterns.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every Kurak cymbal is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul from B20 bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – hand-cast using a traditional process, heated and carefully hammered by experienced master craftsmen. No lathing, no high-gloss finish – the raw bronze keeps its original surface. The result is a cymbal that looks as if it were made centuries ago and sounds like the earth itself. At Cymballand, we are proud to bring this authentic craftsmanship straight to you as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals – no middlemen, at the best price.
