Turkish Cymbals Soundscape Satellite Flat Bell – Tones from the Orbit
The Jarrod Cagwin Soundscape series arose from a unique artistic collaboration: American drummer and percussionist Jarrod Cagwin – known for his work in Contemporary Music, World Music, Jazz and Film Scoring as a hybrid drummer and hand percussionist – developed this series together with Turkish Cymbals with no compromises. Each model bears the name of a natural phenomenon and tells its own sonic story. The goal: to create a natural sound tapestry that can be creatively shaped and controlled.
The Name: Satellite – Sonic Objects in Orbit
Satellites orbit the earth silently – precise, controlled and far away. The Satellite Flat Bell in 9”, 10” and 11” bears this name because it hovers sonically somewhere between worlds: between mini flat ride, flat bell and splash. These completely hammered, flat bronze discs are completely unlathed and offer entirely different sonic results depending on playing technique: a gentle finger touch produces a clear, bell-like tone – a hard stick stroke delivers a short, choked splash effect.
Sound Character: Versatile, Dark and Precise
The Satellite Flat Bell is a sonic instrument with multiple personalities: played with fingers it produces an identifiable, quiet bell tone. With mallet or brushes the sound becomes soft and melodic. With a hard stick stroke a short, choked splash effect emerges. The three sizes 9”, 10” and 11” offer three different pitches – played as a trio, melodic percussion patterns with a dark, hammered character can be created.
Applications: Contemporary, World Music, Jazz and Film Scoring
The Satellite Flat Bell is the most versatile instrument in the Soundscape series. In Contemporary and World Music contexts it opens entirely new creative possibilities of expression. In Film Scoring it creates atmospheric, evocative sound textures. In Jazz and percussion ensembles it functions as a melodic accent instrument with dark, organic character.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every Soundscape cymbal is crafted in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul following a tradition that reaches back centuries. The secret B20 bronze alloy – 80% copper, 20% tin – is hand-cast, heated and worked by experienced master craftsmen. Jarrod Cagwin’s precise sonic vision and the deep craft of the Istanbul masters together produce cymbals that no other company can make in this way. We at Cymballand are proud, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, to bring this exceptional series directly to you – without intermediaries, at the best price.

Eine interessante Mischung aus Splash und Mini Flat Ride. Eine Bereicherung für mein Set Up.
Hallo Simon,
Viele Grüße,
Bülent

Let customers speak for us
Vielen Dank 🤗
Good dark, complex crash
Really dark, loud hihats, works good as secondary hats for blastbeats when set not too washy.
Great Cymbal.
