Turkish Cymbals Bee Splash

Turkish Cymbals Bee Splash – A Singular Hiss Sound

The Bee Splash is no ordinary effect cymbal. It is the result of a creative, one-of-a-kind lathing process that gives the outer edge its characteristic supple, slightly curved form – a shape you recognise at a glance and hear at the very first stroke. Our team of passionate drummers and percussionists was fascinated from the start by this unmistakable sonic character: a character no other cymbal can replicate.

The Secret of the Bee Series: A Unique Lathing Process

The Bee Splash owes its sonic identity to a special manufacturing process: the outer edge is worked with an experimental lathing pattern that gives it a slightly rippled, malleable quality. This paper-thin construction – considerably lighter than a conventional splash cymbal – ensures an immediate, sensitive response. The result is a sonic character that drummers and percussionists describe as exotically unique: a blend of the lively spray of a splash cymbal and the cutting character of a china cymbal – compact, direct and unmistakable.

Sound Character: High, Sharp and Cutting

The tone of the Bee Splash is peculiar – and that is meant as the highest compliment. It opens with a high, sharp hiss tone with an intense attack and closes with a short, precise decay. No long wash, no broad resonance – just a pinpoint, exotic accent that cuts through the rhythm like a blade. Thanks to the B20 bronze alloy of Turkish Cymbals, complex overtones develop despite the cymbal's thinness: a tonal spectrum that goes far beyond a simple effect sound. In the smaller sizes 10" and 12" this character intensifies – drier, sharper, more direct.

Applications: Drummers, Percussionists and Sound Artists

The Bee Splash crosses the line between drum kit and hand percussion. In a drum setup it delivers precise, short accents in Rock, Fusion, Experimental Music and World Music – wherever an unconventional effect is needed that stands out from the crowd. At the same time it is one of the few cymbals that, thanks to its paper-thin, flexible construction, lends itself beautifully to hand playing – a genuine percussion instrument for percussion ensembles, frame-drum setups or acoustic improvisations. Those searching for unconventional tonal colours will quickly discover the Bee Splash as an indispensable tool.
