Turkish Cymbals Clatter Splash

Turkish Cymbals Clatter Splash – Explosive Hybrid Sound

The Clatter Splash by Turkish Cymbals is an effect cymbal that defines its own category. It does not sound like a classic splash cymbal – nor like a china. It sounds like both at once: sharp, cutting, with an exotic hiss tone that instantly catches the ear and disappears just as quickly. Visually striking from a distance – and sonically setting standards that no other effect cymbal of this size can match.

The Secret of the Clatter Series: Brush-Like Finish

What sets the Clatter Splash apart from all other cymbals is its unique surface process. Instead of classic lathing, the surface is treated with a brush-like process – the result is a finely structured, matte surface that cuts overtones in a controlled manner. Combined with the paper-thin construction – exceptionally light in both weight and material thickness – a sonic profile emerges that sounds paradoxical yet works: lightning-fast response from the cymbal's thinness, controlled and short decay from the brush-like finish. The result is an effect cymbal that is precise without being sterile.

Sound Character: Sharp, Cutting and Controlled

The Clatter Splash delivers a high, sharp, cutting hiss tone – strangely exotic and instantly recognisable. Response is immediate, decay controlled and short. Thanks to the paper-thin construction it responds sensitively to the lightest touch while still delivering maximum projection with a powerful stroke – a dynamic range that customers aptly describe as: "Super sound, from sensitive to extremely accented with good projection." In 10" and 12", clear character differences emerge: the 10" model is more sensitive and direct, the 12" model adds more body and volume – both complement each other beautifully in the same setup.

Applications: Drums, Hand Percussion and Fusion

The Clatter Splash is a boundary crosser. In a drum setup it delivers precise, exotic accents in Jazz, Funk, Fusion, World Music and experimental music that outshine every other effect cymbal. Thanks to its paper-thin, flexible construction it can equally be played by hand – making it one of the few cymbals that serves both drummers and percussionists alike. In percussion ensembles, frame-drum setups, World Music contexts or acoustic improvisations it unfolds a unique sonic character that conventional cymbals simply cannot offer.

Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price

Every Clatter cymbal is crafted in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul following a tradition that reaches back centuries. The secret B20 bronze alloy – 80% copper, 20% tin – is hand-cast, heated and hammered thousands of times by experienced master craftsmen. The finishing surface process – a brush-like finish instead of classic lathing – is the fruit of years of experimentation and deep craft knowledge that cannot be replicated by machine. We at Cymballand are proud, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, to bring this craftsmanship directly to you – without intermediaries, at the best price.
