Turkish Cymbals Kurak Crash Thin – Fast Darkness
“Kurak” is the Turkish word for “dry” – and no name could describe this sonic character more aptly. The Kurak series by Turkish Cymbals is the most uncompromising realisation of a raw, untreated sound: both sides of every cymbal are completely raw and unlathed – no lathing, no polishing, just pure B20 bronze in its most natural form. This approach produces a dark, earthy and dry sound reminiscent of ancient Anatolian music – organic, direct and of unique depth. The Kurak models (Medium-Heavy) have a larger bell and more weight for projection and power. The Jazz and Thin versions are lighter and thinner – more responsive and designed for more sensitive playing.
Sound character
The Kurak Crash Thin in 16”, 17”, 18” and 19” unites the earthy Kurak character with the lightning-fast response of a Thin construction. It responds fully to even the lightest touches and delivers a dark, dry crash sound with short, controlled decay. Compared to the heavier Kurak Crash the sound is somewhat more open and brighter – but the raw, organic character is fully preserved. Ideal for drummers who value the Kurak sonic world but need more responsiveness for fast, dynamic playing.
Applications: Soul, R’n’B, Rock, Latin, Jazz-Fusion and Funk
The Kurak Crash Thin is the first choice for drummers wanting to place precise, responsive crash accents with organic Kurak character. In Jazz-Fusion the Thin construction enables expressive, dynamic crash accents. In Soul and R’n’B it sets delicate, warm crashes with short decay. In Rock, Funk and Latin it delivers dark, earthy effects with maximum response speed.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every Kurak cymbal is crafted in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul from the secret B20 bronze alloy – 80% copper, 20% tin – hand-cast, heated and carefully hammered by experienced master craftsmen. No lathing, no high-gloss finish – the raw bronze retains its original surface. The result is a cymbal that looks as if it were made centuries ago and sounds like the earth itself. We at Cymballand are proud, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, to bring this authentic craftsmanship directly to you – without intermediaries, at the best price.

Let customers speak for us
Vielen Dank 🤗
Good dark, complex crash
Really dark, loud hihats, works good as secondary hats for blastbeats when set not too washy.
Great Cymbal.
