Turkish Cymbals Ephesus Ride – Dark Bell Character
The Ephesus Ride in 20" by Turkish Cymbals is a ride cymbal with an unmistakable sonic character: warm, earthy and with a bell that sounds darker and more powerful than comparable ride cymbals from other series. This is no coincidence – it is the direct result of the unique Ephesus manufacturing process that defines this cymbal from within.
The Secret of the Ephesus Series: Double-Sided Hammering and Raw Bell
At the heart of the Ephesus series is a manufacturing process that no other Turkish Cymbals series implements as consistently: every cymbal is hand-hammered on both sides – top and bottom. This labour-intensive process gives the cymbal an extraordinary sonic saturation that runs through all frequency ranges. On both sides, the bell is deliberately left raw and unlathed – the hammer strikes remain visible and acoustically effective. The result is a dark, powerful bell with organic character that differs fundamentally from the clear, bright bell sounds of lathed bells. In the final step, all Ephesus cymbals are fine-hammered with special tools – a finishing refinement that gives the overall sound depth and complexity.
Sound Character: Clear, Dark and Powerful
The Ephesus Ride offers a clearly defined stick sound with immediate response and a controlled, dark wash. The ping is direct and strong – it cuts through the mix effortlessly. The raw, unlathed bell delivers a sound that sits between the classic bright bell ping and a deeper, organic bell tone – dark enough for warm, earthy grooves, loud enough for powerful bell patterns. Combined with the warm overall sound and heavy construction, the result is a ride cymbal suited to both subtle studio work and powerful live performances.
Applications: Metal, Progressive Rock and Hard Rock
The Ephesus Ride speaks to drummers seeking a distinctive ride cymbal that gives their playing its own voice. In Metal it projects with power and precision – the stick sound penetrates even the loudest setups. In Progressive Rock, drummers appreciate the dark bell character for melodic-rhythmic bell patterns. In Hard Rock, the Ephesus Ride delivers the volume and assertiveness needed for any stage.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every Ephesus cymbal is crafted in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul following a tradition that reaches back centuries. The B20 bronze alloy – 80% copper, 20% tin – is hand-cast, heated and hammered thousands of times on both sides by experienced master craftsmen. The raw, unlathed bell is no compromise – it is a deliberate design decision for warmth, darkness and organic character. We at Cymballand are proud, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, to bring this masterwork directly to you – without intermediaries, at the best price.

Let customers speak for us
Vielen Dank 🤗
Good dark, complex crash
Really dark, loud hihats, works good as secondary hats for blastbeats when set not too washy.
Great Cymbal.
