Turkish Cymbals Sirius China Holey – Sparkling, Aggressive and Short
The Sirius series by Turkish Cymbals is one of the most striking series in the entire range – and for good reason: six large holes of approx. 5 cm diameter each are evenly distributed across the playing surface and fundamentally define the sound and character of these cymbals. The holes reduce air resistance during playing, resulting in a short, trashy decay – the sound dies away quickly, without long wash or excessive overtones. The result is a raw, aggressive biting sound with a bright, cutting character. Combined with the brilliant, hand-polished finish and the thinner construction, the result is a cymbal that can be used both as an effect cymbal and as a fully functional crash cymbal.
Sound Character: China Exoticism Meets Sirius Aggression
The Sirius China Holey in 16” and 18” combines two of the most distinctive cymbal concepts: the exotic China form with upturned edges and the six large holes of the Sirius series. The result is a cymbal of extraordinary sonic personality: the China sound delivers a shrill, aggressive attack with exotic tonal colour, the holes produce an even shorter, drier decay than a conventional China. The brilliant surface gives the entire sound a sparkling, vivid brightness. The 16” model is more direct and drier, the 18” model offers more body.

The Sirius China Holey is an excellent stack cymbal – as the bottom cymbal in combination with a smaller crash or splash. The combination of China form and holes creates one of the driest, most compact stack sounds available.
