Turkish Cymbals Travel Hi-Hat – Precise, balanced and compact
The 13" Travel Hi-Hat comes from the series in which Chris Wabich created compact, luggage-friendly cymbals. Its two Medium hi-hat cymbals – the lower one heavier than the upper – are hand-hammered and lathed, and their traditional finish shows wide, clearly visible lathing grooves.
Sound character: clear, warm and controlled
The chick of the Travel Hi-Hat is clear and warm. Played closed, its stick sound is defined and controlled; open, the hi-hat spreads out a warm, balanced wash. Overall, its dynamic range is wide, and at 13" it will even fit under an airplane seat.
Applications: contemporary, funk, jazz, jazz-fusion, percussion, pop, rock, traditional jazz and world music
In jazz and traditional jazz, you can play the Travel Hi-Hat with a sensitive, musical touch, while in rock and pop its clear chick stays easy to hear in the groove. Funk, jazz-fusion, percussion and world music bring out its versatility. Within the series, it pairs well with the Travel Crash and the Travel Flat Ride Sizzle.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every cymbal in the Travel series is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces and hammered by experienced master craftsmen, stroke by stroke. The Crash and the Hi-Hat are then lathed, whereas the Flat Ride Sizzle is not. Before a cymbal leaves the workshops, it is tested individually by hand. Because casting and hammering are done by hand, each one sounds just a little different. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
