Turkish Cymbals Clatter Splash – Sharp hiss
The Clatter Splash by Turkish Cymbals is a paper-thin splash cymbal that sounds like a splash and a china at once: a hiss that grabs your ear instantly, and a dark tone that vanishes just as fast. That makes it stand out clearly from standard splashes. Like every Clatter cymbal, it is lathed in a particular way that leaves its top side with a brush-like finish. The Clatter Splash comes in 10" and 12".
Sound character: sharp on the attack, dark on the decay
The Clatter Splash opens with a sudden, biting hiss and moves into a dark, deep tone that dies away immediately. It speaks without delay, and the decay is short and controlled – the result of its paper-thin build and its rough, brush-like surface texture. It picks up even the lightest touch, yet holds its own when you hit it hard. Or, as one customer put it in his review: “Great sound – from subtle to extremely accented, and it cuts through well.” The 10" model responds more sensitively and sounds more direct, while the 12" brings more body and volume – the two complement each other well in the same setup.
Applications: percussion, soundtrack, world music, jazz and fusion
The Clatter Splash moves freely between drum kit and percussion – it’s one of the rare cymbals that serve drummers and percussionists equally well. At the kit, it places short, precise and exotic accents: delicate and quiet with a light touch in jazz, powerful and punchy in fusion. The paper-thin build means you can play it with your hands just as well – as an accent between hand drums in a percussion setup, for example, or in world music projects. In soundtrack productions, its short, dark sound creates accents that nobody would put down to an ordinary cymbal. As a companion to the Clatter Crash, it packs the Clatter character into the smallest size.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every Clatter cymbal comes from the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years – by masters who learned their craft in the centuries-old Istanbul cymbal tradition. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces, hammered thousands of times and then lathed. In the process, a special technique gives the top side its brush-like finish, which draws on the workshop’s years of experience and cannot be reproduced by machine. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
