Turkish Cymbals Jazz Hi-Hat – Sharp chick, warm sound
Subtle nuances or powerful playing – the Jazz Hi-Hat by Turkish Cymbals follows both with a warm, colourful sound. This pair of hi-hat cymbals has a Medium-Thin build, is deeply hammered and comes with a Traditional finish; as with most hi-hats, the bottom cymbal is slightly heavier than the top.
Sound character: precise chick, dark depth
The chick is sharp, precise and well defined, with a dark undertone. Played closed with a stick, the Jazz Hi-Hat sounds clear and crisp, with a wide dynamic range. When you open it, the wash sounds characterful and dark, with plenty of depth. The sustain stays controlled throughout – that’s down to the deep hammer marks.
Applications: traditional jazz, jazz-fusion, soul, R'n'B and funk
In funk, the clear stick definition makes for tight patterns, and fast jazz-fusion lines stay cleanly articulated as well. In traditional jazz, the Jazz Hi-Hat reacts sensitively to brushes and light sticks, and it brings warmth to soul and R'n'B grooves. For even more delicate playing, there’s the Thin Jazz Hi-Hat Light. Paired with the Jazz Crash and the Jazz Ride, the Jazz Hi-Hat makes a complete jazz setup.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every Jazz cymbal is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces and hammered by experienced master craftsmen, stroke by stroke; in the process, the Jazz series cymbals are given deep hammer marks. After that, every cymbal is lathed all over and receives a Traditional finish. Because casting and hammering are done by hand, each one sounds just a little different. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
