Turkish Cymbals Rhythm & Soul Crash – Warm, fast, controlled
The Rhythm & Soul Crash is a crash cymbal in B20 bronze from the Medium-Thin weight class. Its shallow hammer marks are packed tightly across the matte, beige grey-brown surface, with dark spots scattered in between. Bow and bell share one finish.
Sound character: direct attack, warm tone
The Rhythm & Soul Crash is right there from the first stroke: its light build lets it speak quickly, and the attack comes in directly. Dense hammering and the unpolished surface keep that attack under control. It owes its warmth to the B20 bronze; overall, its tone is medium-dark, and the sustain fades out in a controlled way. The 16" sounds more direct, the 18" bigger, and the 17" sits nicely balanced in between.
Applications: contemporary, funk, jazz-fusion, Latin, R'n'B and soul
In funk and Latin, the Crash gives you quick accents that melt into the groove. In soul ballads and R'n'B tracks, it helps you make transitions and the chorus stand out. In contemporary styles and jazz-fusion, it works for short stabs just as well as for full crashes at the end of a phrase. The obvious partners from the series are the Rhythm & Soul Ride and the Rhythm & Soul Hi-Hat.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every cymbal in the Rhythm & Soul series is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces and hammered by experienced master craftsmen, stroke by stroke. Each cymbal is left unpolished and only lightly lathed. Its patina, reminiscent of a leopard's coat, comes from a special process. Because casting and hammering are done by hand, each one sounds just a little different. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
