Turkish Cymbals Rock Beat Hi-Hat – Crystal-clear chick, bright wash
The bottom of the Rock Beat Hi-Hat is heavier than the top, yet both hi-hat cymbals fall into the Medium-Thin weight class.
Sound character: defined chick, clear stick sound
The chick of the Rock Beat Hi-Hat sounds crystal clear and cleanly defined. Stick strokes on the closed hi-hat are just as clear and precise. A broad, bright wash is what you get when you open the hi-hat. The 14" sounds more direct, and the 15" has more volume and presence.
Applications: blues, contemporary, progressive and rock
Slightly open, the hi-hat gives a blues shuffle its bounce, and in rock, eighth notes on the closed hi-hat push the song forward. Fast sixteenths in progressive rock come out clean and distinct as well. Build-ups in contemporary songs are where you bring in the bright, open wash, exactly when you want it. For ride and crash, reach for the Rock Beat Ride and the Rock Beat Crash.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every cymbal in the Rock Beat series is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces and hammered by experienced master craftsmen, stroke by stroke. Once both cymbals have been lathed, they are polished by hand to a mirror gloss. This polishing compresses the bronze and gives the cymbals their bright sound. Because casting and hammering are done by hand, each one sounds just a little different. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
