Turkish Cymbals Sehzade Hi-Hat – Soft chick, woody stick sound
The Sehzade Hi-Hat is a Medium-Heavy pair, with the heavier cymbal at the bottom. On both hi-hat cymbals, the rim and the ring around the bell are lathed, while the wide middle ring and the bell remain raw and hammered.
Sound character: soft, crisp and warm
The Sehzade Hi-Hat closes with a soft, crisp chick. Played with a stick, the closed hi-hat takes on a woody colour. Open the hats and you get a warm wash with depth. The 15" has more body than the 14".
Applications: contemporary, funk, jazz, rock and soul
It's as much at home in a fat funk or soul groove with a woody stick sound as in quiet jazz comping full of fine nuances. In rock, too, its warm wash blends in well. For accents, bring in the Sehzade Crash; together with a crash and a ride, the hi-hat is also part of the Sehzade Set 1.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every cymbal in the Sehzade series is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces and hammered by experienced master craftsmen, stroke by stroke. After that, only the rim, a ring around the bell and the underside are lathed; the wide middle ring and the bell stay raw, so you can see the hammer marks there. Because casting and hammering are done by hand, each one sounds just a little different. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
