Turkish Cymbals Classic China – Exotic edge
The Classic China by Turkish Cymbals is a china cymbal in 8", 10" and 12" with a high, cutting tone and an exotic colour. Turkish Cymbals calls Classic the most versatile series in its range and its professional standard line – and our experience confirms it: you can play practically any style of music with Classic cymbals. The series follows the tradition of dark, warm Istanbul cymbals: balanced weight, the typical dents left by hand hammering and a traditional finish. Its sound ranges from deep and earthy through full and broad to bright and clear.
Sound character: high, cutting and exotic
The Classic China speaks instantly, with a short, controlled decay. On top of that, it has exactly the colour that sets a china apart from other cymbals. Size shapes the character: the 8" model sounds almost like an aggressive splash, while the 12" brings more body and depth. The B20 bronze keeps the Classic China musical, despite its aggressive side.
Applications: rock, metal, jazz and fusion
The Classic China is made for short, well-placed accents. In a loud rock or metal band, it fires off aggressive, cutting hits that stand out clearly from the rest of your setup. In a jazz combo or over fusion grooves, it brings an unusual, exotic colour into play – and the more sparingly you use it, the more it counts. If you like experimenting with new sounds, it becomes a creative tool that goes beyond the usual crash and ride tones. Hand percussionists will find interesting sonic possibilities in it, too. If you’re after a china sound with more body and less bite, you’ll find it in the Classic China Reverse in 14" and 17".
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every Classic cymbal is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces, hammered thousands of times by experienced master craftsmen and then lathed by hand. That’s why every Classic cymbal bears its own hammer marks, while the series character stays the same. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
