Turkish Cymbals Ephesus Crash – Explosive power
The Ephesus Crash by Turkish Cymbals is a crash cymbal with an explosive attack and a modern, metallic sound. Hammered on both sides, it is lathed with such a light touch that the surface looks almost smooth. That is exactly what makes its tone more aggressive than that of many other series, while the warm core of B20 bronze is preserved. The Medium-Heavy build sits close to Heavy and gives the crash plenty of headroom.
Sound character: explosive, metallic and controlled
Hit it hard and the Ephesus Crash bursts open, reaching its full volume in no time. The attack is broad and piercing, the decay medium-length: the crash hangs clearly in the air without burying the next bar. This, too, comes down to its almost smooth surface. The size changes the character: a 16" is quicker and shorter, a 19" fuller, with more carry.
Applications: metal, progressive and rock
The Ephesus Crash is made for drummers who need loud accents with definition. In metal, it slices through walls of distorted guitar and still stays controllable. In prog, the medium decay and direct response help you place every stroke cleanly, even in dense passages. In rock, it marks transitions and choruses with authority. Combined with the Ephesus Hi-Hat, your whole setup sounds as if it were cast in one piece.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every Ephesus cymbal is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces and hammered on the top and bottom by experienced master craftsmen, stroke by stroke. After that, the surface is lathed very finely while the bell stays raw; an extra-fine re-hammering with special hammers completes the process. Because casting and hammering are done by hand, every Ephesus cymbal sounds just a little different. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
