Turkish Cymbals Sirius Crash – Trashy, Brilliant and Explosive
The Sirius series by Turkish Cymbals is one of the most striking series in the entire range – and for good reason: six large holes of approx. 5 cm diameter each are evenly distributed across the playing surface and fundamentally define the sound and character of these cymbals. The holes reduce air resistance during playing, resulting in a short, trashy decay – the sound dies away quickly, without long wash or excessive overtones. The result is a raw, aggressive biting sound with a bright, cutting character. Combined with the brilliant, hand-polished finish and the thinner construction, the result is a cymbal that can be used both as an effect cymbal and as a fully functional crash cymbal.
Sound Character: Short, Aggressive and Sparkling
The Sirius Crash in 14”, 16”, 17”, 18” and 19” delivers a unique sound: the attack is immediate, bright and powerful – the brilliant surface produces a sparkling, cutting entry. Thanks to the six holes the cymbal decays quickly and in a controlled manner – no expansive wash, just a characteristic trashy sound with a dirty bite. This short, crisp decay makes the Sirius Crash an ideal effect cymbal for concise accents – yet its brilliant, powerful character and the wide size range from 14” to 19” also allow use as a fully functional main crash cymbal. The 14” model is the most direct and driest. Volume and body grow with size – the 19” model offers the fullest, most powerful Sirius sound.
Stack Combination
The Sirius Crash is also ideal as the top cymbal in stack combinations – for example with a Sehzade China. The dry, trashy character combined with the China exotic quality produces a compact, aggressive stack sound that works particularly well in modern Rock and Grunge setups.
