The centre and bell, by contrast, are matte and unlathed – not raw, but carefully treated through a special acid bath and intensive hammering. This unlathed, matte surface produces a controlled, dark and full sonic character that differs fundamentally from classically lathed cymbals. The result of this combination: the brilliant edges deliver speed of response and clear attack, while the unlathed surface builds a round, deep and complex fundamental sound.
