Turkish Cymbals Stack – Dark, dry and explosive
On the Turkish Cymbals Stack, two cymbals lie one on top of the other on a single stand: a Sirius Crash on top and, underneath it, a china from the Sehzade series. Both have six holes, all the same size. You can get the Stack in three size combinations, always with the smaller cymbal on top. Every stack we carry is listed under stack cymbals.
Sound character: aggressive, trashy and clappy
Together, the two cymbals sound dark and dry, with an explosive, aggressive attack. Because they hit each other while you're playing, the sound stays short and calls to mind an electronic handclap. What's more, the holes in both cymbals make it fade out faster and add trash. How open the Stack sounds is up to you and the wing nut: crank it down tight and the Stack sounds very short and metallic, like an 80s snare; keep it loose and you get more body and sustain. Stack 1 gives you the fullest sound, Stack 3 the most direct and shortest.
Applications: electronic, grunge, jungle, rock and soundtrack
In rock and grunge, the Stack gives you dry accents that get straight back out of the way. Over the top of fast jungle beats, it lets you place clipped, hard strokes, and in electronic grooves it brings the clap sound to your acoustic kit. In soundtrack work, it provides dark effect hits. Take the Stack apart and you can play both cymbals on their own as well: the Sirius Crash as an effect cymbal, the Sehzade China as a china. Split the smallest Stack this way and you end up with an effect splash and a mini china. For a stack made of two Sirius cymbals, put the Sirius China Holey at the bottom and the Sirius Crash on top. The Ad Astra Stack, built from a Holey Crash and a Holey China, sounds darker than this one.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Both cymbals of the Stack are made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces and hammered by experienced master craftsmen, stroke by stroke. The Sirius Crash is then lathed, and both of its sides are polished to a high gloss – except for the bell, which stays raw on the Stack version. On the Sehzade China, the lathe only works the rim, the underside and the ring that encircles the bell; the bell and the wide middle ring are left raw, and that is where the hammer marks show. The holes are put in by machine. Because casting and hammering are done by hand, each one sounds just a little different. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
