Turkish Cymbals Cappadocia Crash-Ride – Earthy depth
The Cappadocia Crash-Ride by Turkish Cymbals is a 19" crash-ride cymbal that combines the directness of a crash with the controlled articulation of a ride. The series is named after Cappadocia in Central Anatolia – a landscape of volcanic rock, ancient cave cities and thousands of years of history. The dark hammer pattern and coal-black patina of the Cappadocia cymbals come from deep hammering – and it is exactly this hammering that makes the sound darker, drier and more controlled.
Sound character: earthy, dry and versatile
Hit it as a crash and the Cappadocia Crash-Ride opens with a powerful but never overwhelming attack, then fades with a medium-short, dry decay – no uncontrolled wash, no mushy overtones. Played on the bow, the stick sound stays clear and clean. It’s exactly this restraint that makes the cymbal so musical: it accents without dominating, and it always stays earthy and dry.
Applications: jazz, funk and grunge rock
The Cappadocia Crash-Ride is a cymbal for drummers who put character before volume. In a small jazz group it carries the groove with fine articulation, without drowning it out. Over funk grooves it lays down short, dry accents with clear dynamics, and when a grunge band cranks it up, its crash takes on a rough, earthy edge. Because it responds to gentle brush strokes just as well as to a full stick attack, it’s a true all-rounder with a voice of its own. Add the 15" Cappadocia Hi-Hat and you have a compact setup from a single series – handy if you like to play with just a few cymbals.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every Cappadocia cymbal is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces and hammered thousands of times by experienced master craftsmen. Because every cymbal is made by hand, no two Cappadocia cymbals have quite the same hammer pattern. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
