Turkish Cymbals Cappadocia Hi-Hat – Earthy chick
The Cappadocia Hi-Hat by Turkish Cymbals is a pair of hi-hat cymbals with a tight sound and few overtones. The series is named after Cappadocia in Central Anatolia – a landscape of volcanic rock, ancient cave cities and thousands of years of history. The dark hammer pattern and coal-black patina of the Cappadocia cymbals come from deep hammering – and it is exactly this hammering that makes the sound darker, drier and more controlled.
Sound character: dark, tight and controlled
As the hi-hat closes, the chick sounds dark and compressed – not a bright hiss, but an earthy, deep tone that anchors the groove. Played closed, it gives you a clearly articulated stick sound with a dry decay. Played open, it opens up into a full wash without harsh highs – rich, dark and expressive. At 15", it brings more depth and volume than a 14" hi-hat, without giving up any control.
Applications: jazz, funk and grunge rock
The Cappadocia Hi-Hat gives your groove a clear, earthy foundation. In quiet jazz, its dry, articulate stick sound comes through with fine dynamics; in funk patterns, the compressed chick keeps everything rhythmically tight and precise. Played open over distorted grunge rock guitars, it shows its earthy, rough side. With brushes or heavy sticks, at any volume, this hi-hat stays dependable. Paired with the Cappadocia Ride, it makes for a setup that sounds earthy and dark from the hi-hat to the ride bell – without any breaks in the overall sound.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every Cappadocia cymbal is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces and hammered by experienced master craftsmen, stroke by stroke. Because every cymbal is made by hand, no two Cappadocia cymbals have quite the same hammer pattern. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
