Turkish Cymbals Millennium Ride – Open wash, tight bell
The Millennium Ride comes from a series that Turkish Cymbals developed for jazz drummers. This ride cymbal sits at the light end of the Medium-Thin weight class. On the surface, you’ll see fine hammer marks that aren’t deep.
Sound character: warm, open, controlled
The stick sound is clear and defined, with an open, balanced wash underneath that rings out musically. The bell stays tight and distinct without standing out brightly. Because the Ride is built close to Thin, it responds quickly – even to light strokes and brushes. The 20" is a little faster still, while the 21" sounds fuller.
Applications: traditional jazz, soul, jazz-fusion, blues, R'n'B, funk and Latin
With sticks or brushes, you play traditional jazz swing figures on it without them getting lost in the wash; in jazz-fusion, you place clear accents on the bell. In soul, R'n'B and funk grooves, the warm wash sits quietly behind the snare and bass, and blues shuffles and Latin patterns stay cleanly defined, too. Around the Ride, you can build out your setup with the Millennium Crash, the Millennium Crash-Ride and the Millennium Hi-Hat.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every cymbal in the Millennium series is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces and hammered by experienced master craftsmen, stroke by stroke. After that, every cymbal is lathed and given a slightly polished Traditional finish. Because casting and hammering are done by hand, each one sounds just a little different. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
