Turkish Cymbals Raw Dark Hi-Hat – Hard, clear, dark
For the Raw Dark Hi-Hat, two hi-hat cymbals in B20 bronze are hammered intensively by hand and then left raw: neither the bow nor the bell is lathed. Both share the series' matte, darkened surface, both are Medium-Heavy and built thick, and each one has a big bell.
Sound character: hard chick, dark wash
The chick of the Raw Dark Hi-Hat sounds hard, clear, full and dark. With the hi-hat closed, your stick strokes come through powerful and defined – with plenty of volume and projection. Leave it open, and it answers with a short, dark, controlled wash. Its dry sound and short sustain come down to the raw surface. The big bells give it extra depth and body; together with the thick material, they produce a full, loud sound.
Applications: metal, rock, grunge and progressive
In loud metal and rock setups, the Raw Dark Hi-Hat cuts through, and the hard chick marks the beat clearly. Feel free to play grunge grooves on an open hi-hat as well; its wash stays well in check. In the odd time signatures of progressive rock, every figure on the closed hi-hat remains clearly audible. The Raw Dark Ride and the Raw Dark Crash go well with the Raw Dark Hi-Hat.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every cymbal in the Raw Dark series is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces and hammered by experienced master craftsmen, stroke by stroke. Neither of the two cymbals goes on the lathe: the bow and bell are left raw. After that, both go into the furnace once more; only then are they blackened to a dark finish using a special process – they are not lacquered. Because casting and hammering are done by hand, each one sounds just a little different. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
