The Sehzade series by Turkish Cymbals – Turkish for “Crown Prince” – is one of the most versatile series in the entire Turkish Cymbals range. Its unique feature is the three-zone surface structure: the outer edge is lathed and bright, a characteristic wide unlathed middle ring gives the sound dark depth and earthy character, and the unlathed bell delivers a dry, clear bell tone. The underside is lathed. This combination creates a cymbal that develops different tonal properties depending on playing position: brighter, energetic response at the outer edge – drier, defined response in the unlathed middle zone. The result is an instrument of extraordinary musicality and versatility.
Sound Character: Deep, Sensitive and Expressive
The Sehzade Ride in 20”, 21” and 22” delivers a beautiful, musical bell with a deep, distinctive tone. The ping is delicate and defined, the stick attack sensitive – ideal for controlled, delicate articulation. The outer lathed edge delivers a crisp, bright sound with light shimmer. In the unlathed middle zone the sound noticeably dries out – more stick definition, less wash. This two-zone design makes the Sehzade Ride a cymbal that responds to every stroke in the truest sense. The 20” model is more responsive, the 22” model deeper and more voluminous.
