Turkish Cymbals Soundscape Water Crash – Flowing, swinging, gong-like
The Water Crash is the only Paper-Thin model among Jarrod Cagwin's Soundscape cymbals. This crash cymbal has a deliberately warped shape.
Sound character: vibrates in waves, recalls a gong
Strike it and the whole Water Crash vibrates in waves, like circles spreading across water – hence the name. Its sound brings a concert gong or a tam-tam to mind, even though the cymbal is far smaller and lighter. With the hand, the fingers or with mallets it can be played with particular subtlety. The larger models sound fuller and longer, the 22" fullest and longest of all.
Applications: jazz-fusion, percussion, soundtrack and world music
For soundtrack productions, the Water Crash lets you build flowing, dramatic planes of sound. In world music its gong-like character brings in a colour you would not expect from a crash, and in jazz-fusion as in percussion setups it becomes an effect cymbal. A dark, short counterpart to it is the Karaburan China.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every cymbal in the Soundscape series is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand and heated in traditional furnaces. The Water Crash goes without hammer strokes; only its face is lathed, never the bell. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
