Turkish Cymbals Raw Dark Crash – Dark, explosive, controlled
The Raw Dark Crash in B20 bronze is intensively hammered by hand and then left fully unlathed, from the bow right up to the bell. Its surface has a matte, dark, blackened look. This crash cymbal shares the Medium-Heavy weight class, the thick material and the big bell with the other Raw Dark models.
Sound character: dark attack, short sustain
The attack of the Raw Dark Crash hits all at once, loud and dark – an explosive accent that then dies away quickly and under control. The raw surface is what gives it its dry, dark tone and tight sustain. The big bell and the thick bronze make the sound full and loud. The 16" comes across as more compact and direct, while the 18" has a bigger sound, with more body.
Applications: metal, rock, grunge and progressive
In metal and rock, the Raw Dark Crash drops hard, dark accents into the mix that fade soon after you hit it. Its raw character also sits well with distorted grunge guitars, and in progressive rock it marks breaks and time changes with short, clearly defined crashes. The Raw Dark Ride and the Raw Dark Hi-Hat from the same series take care of the rest of your setup.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every cymbal in the Raw Dark series is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces and hammered by experienced master craftsmen, stroke by stroke. No Raw Dark cymbal goes on the lathe: the bow and bell are left raw. After that, each cymbal goes into the furnace once more; only then is it blackened to a dark finish using a special process – it is not lacquered. Because casting and hammering are done by hand, each one sounds just a little different. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
