Turkish Cymbals Jazz Ride – Warm wash, clear bell
In jazz, the ride carries the time – and the Jazz Ride by Turkish Cymbals does it with a warm, dark sound. This ride cymbal has a Medium-Thin build, deep hammer marks and a Traditional finish, and it reacts sensitively to the way you play.
Sound character: warm, dark, balanced
The wash is smooth and balanced, full and yet controlled: it doesn’t smother the mix. The stick sound remains clear and articulate, and the bell sounds clean and bright. The deep hammer marks keep the sustain in check. The ride sounds different with brushes, with mallets and with sticks. The 20" responds a little faster, while the 21" offers more volume and depth.
Applications: traditional jazz, jazz-fusion, soul, R'n'B and funk
In traditional jazz, you play classic ride patterns and bell accents on the Jazz Ride; in bebop and modern jazz, too, every stroke keeps a clear outline. On jazz-fusion numbers, it keeps stick definition and wash in balance; in soul and R'n'B, it lays a warm foundation under the groove, and in funk you play distinctive patterns on the bell. The Jazz Hi-Hat and the Jazz Crash round it out into a typical jazz setup. For a more open ride sound, there’s the Jazz Ride Light.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every Jazz cymbal is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces and hammered by experienced master craftsmen, stroke by stroke; in the process, the Jazz series cymbals are given deep hammer marks. After that, every cymbal is lathed all over and receives a Traditional finish. Because casting and hammering are done by hand, each one sounds just a little different. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
