Turkish Cymbals Prestige-TR Hi-Hat – Dry, warm, defined
Two hi-hat cymbals in the series' deep-black, matte finish make up the Prestige-TR Hi-Hat; both are densely hand-hammered and lightly lathed. The pair is rated Medium-Heavy, with the top lighter and the bottom slightly heavier.
Sound character: dry chick, dark wash
The Prestige-TR Hi-Hat has a dry, clear chick with a warm, dark undertone. Play it closed with a stick, and every stroke stays articulated, with a grippy feel to it. With the hi-hat open, the wash is dark and controlled. The 13" responds fastest; the 15" sounds fuller and deeper and has more presence in louder setups.
Applications: traditional jazz, blues, jazz-fusion, Latin, soul, R'n'B and funk
In funk, soul and R'n'B, the dry chick sits firmly in the groove, while in Latin and jazz-fusion it draws clear rhythmic contours. Warm and dynamic, the Prestige-TR Hi-Hat accompanies traditional jazz and blues. Add the Prestige-TR Ride and the Prestige-TR Crash, and you've put together the complete setup of the series.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every cymbal in the Prestige-TR series is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces and hammered by experienced master craftsmen, stroke by stroke. After that, the bow and bell of both cymbals are only lightly lathed. Finally, both go into the furnace once more and are given their deep-black surface by a special blackening process – without any lacquer. Because casting and hammering are done by hand, each one sounds just a little different. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
