Turkish Cymbals Prestige-TR Ride – Dark, dry, with a soft ping
Deep black and matte, the Prestige-TR Ride stands out the moment you see it. It is densely hand-hammered, only lightly lathed and blackened without lacquer. As for weight, this ride cymbal is Medium-Heavy, and the largest version measures 26" – no other Turkish Cymbals cymbal comes in this size.
Sound character: soft ping, warm bell
On the bow, the stick sound stays dry and controlled, the ping soft and the wash restrained. The Ride owes its dark fundamental and short sustain to the dense hammering, the sparing lathing and the blackening. The small, finely shaped bell sounds warm and dark. As the diameter grows, the Ride gains body and projection; the 26" has the most depth.
Applications: traditional jazz, blues, jazz-fusion, Latin, soul, R'n'B and funk
The Prestige-TR Ride shows its strengths in acoustic music played dynamically. Whether you're playing a blues shuffle or swinging in traditional jazz, it sounds warm and dry. In jazz-fusion, too, your figures stay clearly articulated, and in funk, soul, R'n'B and Latin, you'll enjoy playing patterns on the small bell. The Prestige-TR Crash and the Prestige-TR Hi-Hat belong to the same series.
Craftsmanship from Istanbul – At the Best Price
Every cymbal in the Prestige-TR series is made in the workshops of Turkish Cymbals in Istanbul, where handmade B20 bronze cymbals have been crafted for more than 25 years. The bronze – 80% copper, 20% tin – is cast by hand, heated in traditional furnaces and hammered by experienced master craftsmen, stroke by stroke. After that, the bow and bell are only lightly lathed. Finally, each cymbal goes into the furnace once more and is given its deep-black surface by a special blackening process – without any lacquer. Because casting and hammering are done by hand, each one sounds just a little different. At Cymballand, as the official partner of Turkish Cymbals, we bring this craft straight to you – no middlemen.
